Longtime publisher 3D Realms has officially announced the return of their “Realms Deep” digital event and showcase. The live show will stream on the publisher’s official Twitch channel on September 16th, at noon pacific time. According to the event’s official site, fans can expect to see “world premieres, special guests, interviews, and much more”.

Here’s the tweet from 3D Realms’ feed, which adds that in addition to a live Twitch stream, there will also be a LAN event in Denmark between September 16th and 18th, 2022:

3D Realms has been around since the late 80’s, and they’re probably best known for their work on the Duke Nukem series, contributing to various sequels.

While Duke Nukem has arguably fallen to the wayside, it was recently revealed that the series would be getting a feature adaptation. Not unlike the recent BioShock announcement, Hollywood treatments renew interest in classic games, so it’ll be interesting to see if 3D Realms capitalizes on that and has anything to say about Duke Nukem again.

However, 3D Realms is also known to champion unknown projects, so the promotional tagline “the greatest new games you’ve never heard of” in today’s tweet might be taken literally. In that case, it’d be tough to predict 2022’s titles. But the publisher did release a brief new supercut of 2021 to give fans a better idea of what to expect:

The event is going to be hosted by 3D Realms “and Friends”, so considering any of their ongoing partnerships opens up Realm’s Deep to a number of other titles. They have some pretty big partners, including Nvidia, Rogue Games, and even Team17, who have consistently impressed with recent announcements like Ship of Fools’ release date trailer.
