10 spooky SEO tactics to axe in 2023

It was a cold, dark night. At the end of the long path was an old, rundown mansion covered in cobwebs. Inside was a candle flickering next to the shadow of a person.

You rub the frost off the stained-glass window on the doorstep, and there’s just enough light to see what the man inside is doing. He’s moving his body from side to side, chanting numbers – what could it be? Black magic?

You put your ear to the window to find out what you can hear – and you can make out … something:

“One, two, three, four paid links!”

Alas – he’s not a sorcerer at all – but something even more chilling: A marketer performing the ancient practice of black hat SEO!

Does this tale spook you as much as it does me? It’s almost 2023, and if you’re involved in buying links – or any of the 10 things I’m about to detail in this article – you won’t have a chance to compete in the search results.

So without further ado, here are 10 spooky SEO practices to axe in 2023.

1. Not getting buy-in from the top

Your company may say that you can “do SEO” without actually understanding what SEO means.

Fast-forward to a few months down the road when you need to make big decisions about the site, and management is nowhere to be found.

To be successful in SEO, you need commitment from the top.

In addition, SEO needs to be thought of even when you, the marketer,  are not in the room.

Every decision on the website impacts SEO. When you have proper buy-in, you can solve so many other issues featured in this article.

2. Hiring people that know less about SEO than you

You’ve hired a big, brand-name agency because you heard they were the best.

The company assigns an SEO professional with a fancy title to your account – what could go wrong?

Except after only a few weeks, it is apparent that you know more than your SEO team does.

And, with a little digging, you find that the person servicing your account has only a few years of SEO under their belt.

This is a real phenomenon, folks.

Make sure you research the people you hire before you sign that contract. Otherwise, your working relationship will not be fruitful.

3. Being sure you have a plan that will stick

“Man plans, Google laughs.”

OK, that isn’t quite how that old expression goes, but the reality is that the only thing constant in SEO is change.

With Google making thousands of changes to search each year, and your competitors even more, how can you seriously plan for SEO six months from now?

You do not have any knowledge about the changes you will encounter. So come to terms with the fact that a long-term SEO plan is worthless.

What to do instead?

Run in four-week sprints and re-evaluate what the website needs after each sprint.

4. Getting SEO advice and not implementing it

If you’ve invested time and money into hiring an SEO only to ignore their recommendations, then don’t be surprised by the results you don’t get.

I understand. Sometimes it seems like an uphill battle to get things done.

That is why having buy-in and a plan for how you will implement SEO strategies is the first step before engaging in SEO services.

5. Ignoring the hard changes

When faced with business silos, competing priorities and a lack of resources, it may seem impossible to get the “hard” changes done to a website.

Sometimes, they are partially or even poorly implemented to try and move the needle.

The hard changes, though, are those changes that can make a fundamental difference to your SEO program.

If the recommendation is to do them, make a case for getting them done and, if you need to, hire outside expertise to do them the right way.

6. Thinking any content is good content

If you go to the heart of almost any Google algorithm update, you will find it centers on quality content.

To succeed now and in the future, you need helpful content – expert, authoritative and trusted content.

You must somehow stand out from the competition rather than regurgitate what everyone else is saying.

Spinning others’ ideas equates to average content. And Google does not reward the average.

7. Thinking all keywords are equal

Inventing keywords does not mean that anyone would search for them. Thus they may get no traffic.

That is just one point, but you must also consider that there are many keyword strategies, and they vary by industry.

Matching your content to query intent can help you perform better in search – and is the key to being considered an expert and gaining ranking.

And if it is not ranked, then the content is nearly worthless.

8. Not looking at PPC data

Unfortunately, PPC data is often ignored. And SEO and PPC teams often feel at odds with one another.

Knowing what converts in PPC is a solid indication of the ROI for each keyword.

Also, by studying the negative keywords in PPC that identify ambiguous keywords, the SEO sees issues that point to the need for schema.

Bottom line: If certain keywords have a clear meaning and great conversion, then you may want them in your SEO program.

9. Buying links

By now, we shouldn’t still be having the “paid links” conversation.

Yet many websites still engage in this practice – unknowingly or knowingly.

To be fair, link buying is not always a black-and-white issue; there are shades of gray.

For example, if I pay someone to write an article and place it on another site, is that a paid link? Google thinks so

The remedy to paid links? Create things worth linking to and then let others know about them.

10. Not taking any SEO training

How will you have meaningful discussions with your SEO team if you don’t know what they are talking about?

How will you get Bob in IT to actually make changes to the website if he has no SEO knowledge?

It is so critical that in-house teams have a baseline understanding of SEO, as well as to keep up with emerging strategies.

SEO training is an excellent way to get teams up-to-speed on SEO.

This proactive step helps ensure you are making sound decisions and can keep things moving forward.

Let go of these spooky SEO tactics

These are spooky times and, unfortunately for many websites, scary SEO tactics still exist.

Give the axe to the 10 items in this article and you will have a chance at competing in the search results in 2023.

As climate change has dramatically accelerated the threat of natural disasters, we all need to take steps to increase the odds that our families and homes are safe

By Kylie Ora Lobell

On October 8, 2017, a major wind event started the North Bay wildfires in Northern California. The 250 wildfires burned over 245,000 acres, forcing 100,000 people to evacuate. According to California’s Statewide Fire Summary, the fires destroyed 8,900 structures and killed 43 people.

When the fires first arrived, Shannon Kelley was at home with her newborn daughter and her husband, a firefighter. It was 11:29 p.m., and her husband’s fire pager began to go off. Kelley was hoping it wouldn’t wake their daughter, who had finally fallen asleep in the bassinet next to their bed.

“As [my husband] rushed out the door, I did a quick check on our daughter, and an orange glow in the distance caught my eye,” says Kelley, who runs the website Home Sweet Farm Home. “Out of our bedroom window, I could see what appeared to be 100-foot-tall wind-whipped flames barreling down our valley. Before my husband’s taillights had even vanished down our driveway, I knew I had to act fast.”

Within minutes, the 70-mile-per-hour wind-driven fire had engulfed homes and pastures and was burning up Kelley’s ranch. Luckily, it was headed away from her house.

Still, she stayed up all night watching the flames, ready to leave at a moment’s notice with her daughter and three large dogs. When the sun came up the following day, she was able to see some of the damage from her house.

“Over 5,500 structures burned within our area, and over 40 people lost their lives,” she says. “It was devastating, and we had no idea what had happened and was still happening because we had no phone, power, or Internet connection. The fire made its way back to our property by day two, and I had to evacuate.”

In the end, Kelley lost 2,000 acres of land and vineyards, some structures on her property, and hundreds of miles of fence line. The power was out for seven days. But she and her family—as well as their home—were safe.

Kelley says she learned an important lesson: how to prepare for the next natural disaster. “Being prepared for a natural disaster emergency can mean the difference between loss and survival,” she says. “Depending on where you live or how big the disaster is, first responders may not be able to get to you and your family right away, or you may not be able to evacuate safely.”

Kelley’s story is becoming increasingly familiar and applies to pretty much everyone in the United States (and beyond). Weather-, climate-, and water hazard–related disasters have happened every single day, on average, in the past 50 years, according to an August 2021 report from the World Meteorological Organization.

Additionally, the number of natural disasters that has occurred has “increased by a factor of five over the 50-year period,” the report states. That increase is due to more extreme weather, climate change, and improved reporting. From 1970 to 2019, there were more than 11,000 reported disasters, just over two million deaths, and $3.64 trillion in combined losses.

Now, in response to the rise in natural disasters, people all around the United States are planning for emergencies.

“It’s important to prepare for natural disasters because they can happen at any time, and often without warning,” says Alan Duncan, CEO of Solar Panels Network USA. “By being prepared, you can help reduce the impact of a natural disaster on yourself and your family.”

To ensure that you and your family will be safe should an emergency occur, here are some tips for getting prepared.

Follow News about the Weather and Conditions

It’s a good idea to check up on the weather and conditions in your area, especially if you live where natural disasters frequently happen.

“Watching the weather helps because you know when a natural disaster could occur,” said Kelley. “The news will tell you when there’s an impending red flag warning, an incoming hurricane, an arctic blast, or tornado weather. While it’s not always 100 percent accurate, you usually have some time to prepare.”

Discuss Your Plan with your Family

When an emergency happens, you have to snap into action; you don’t have time to come up with a plan. But if you sit down with your family beforehand and decide what to do just in case, you’ll be more prepared.

“I always make sure to have a plan in place so that my family and I are safe and our business can operate smoothly,” says Kate Zhang, cofounder of Kate Backdrop, which provides printed microfiber backdrops for photographers. “Talk to your family about what to do in an emergency and ensure everyone knows where to go and what to do. It’s also essential to have a designated meeting place if you are separated.”

Buy the Proper Insurance

Melanie Musson, an insurance researcher with Clearsurance.com, has studied climate-related patterns and how natural disasters have impacted home insurance risk and premiums. She recommends making sure you have policies that will cover you should something happen.

“Insurance is a significant part of the preparation process,” she says. “You can do things to protect your home and belongings, but even with the best plans, a storm can destroy a home. The right insurance policy can help you rebuild your life.”

Some insurance policies you might need include homeowner’s insurance if you own or renter’s insurance if you rent, as well as earthquake, hurricane, fire, and flood insurance. Check your policies to ensure they cover the natural disasters that typically occur in your area.

Prepare Your Finances just in case

It’s critical to save up between three and six months’ expenses worth of emergency fund money, says Helen K. Bow, vice president, Media Relations Center of Excellence for Wells Fargo.

“It’s also important to have a strong reserve of cash available for basic necessities if you encounter an emergency [so you can] buy food or gas or [pay for] a hotel room farther away from where the disaster is happening,” she says. “Banks and ATMs may not work for days after a hurricane or wildfire.”

Know the Escape Routes

Like Kelley, Nellie Akalp, CEO and cofounder of CorpNet and a mother of four, was affected by fires in California. She and her family managed to avoid earlier wildfires in 2017 and 2018, but then in 2019, the Woolsey Fire swept through their town, and they had to leave their home.

“Before that very close call, when my family had to evacuate our home and my team had to evacuate our offices, I did not prepare for such an event,” Akalp reflects. “However, now that we’ve experienced [it], I’ve learned that you always have to prepare for any scenario.”

What she also learned from the incident was the importance of having a plan for where to go immediately in case you need to evacuate.

“Have a place readily available that you can go [to], whether [it’s with] family or friends or a hotel that’s outside of the evacuation zones,” she advises. “Even before that evacuation order was put into place, I booked us hotel rooms for a week outside of the city. This is important since you can always cancel these, but if you miss that window, the hotels all get booked immediately.”

Staying Safe in an Emergency

There’s no telling when disaster could strike. However, if you plan for the worst, you’ll be much more likely to keep yourself and your loved ones protected.

Also, if you prepare, you won’t need to think. You can act right away, which is what’s necessary in an emergency.

“Being prepared can reduce fear and anxiety when a disaster hits because you will know what to do and have what you need,” says Kelley. “Proper planning and prevention can reduce the catastrophic impact of a natural disaster on your family and home. And knowing how to keep everything functional after a loss can help you recover more quickly.” DW

EXTRA!

The Essential Emergency Kit

Having an emergency kit you can grab if a natural disaster occurs is crucial. You can purchase a premade emergency kit for yourself and your family members online; find them on websites like Amazon.com and Walmart.com. Another option is to create a kit.

Whether you’re purchasing a kit or making your own, Ready.gov recommends that it include these items.

  • Water—a several-day supply of one gallon per person per day, for drinking and sanitary purposes
  • Flashlight
  • First aid kit
  • A several-day supply of nonperishable food like canned goods
  • Manual can opener
  • Prescription medications
  • Over-the-counter medicine like antacids and pain relievers
  • Cash or traveler’s checks
  • Cell phones with chargers
  • Extra batteries
  • Plastic sheeting and duct tape in case you need to shelter in place
  • Whistle to signal for help
  • Dust mask so you’re protected if the air is contaminated
  • Pliers or a wrench to turn off your utilities
  • Hand-cranked or battery-powered radio
  • Local maps
  • Paper and pencil
  • Matches in a waterproof container
  • Feminine supplies
  • Pet food and water for your pets
  • Infant formula, bottles, diapers, and diaper rash cream for babies
  • Books, games, and activities for children
  • Copies of your identification, bank account records, and insurance policies; store them in a portable, waterproof container

Remember: You may need more items than those on this list. Think about what you use in your everyday life and supplement this list based on your needs.

Explore a planetary record collection with Rytmos

Games that revolve around music often lack a certain depth. There’s fun to be had with classic titles like Guitar Hero and Taiko No Tastujin, but there’s the absence of substance, and you come away with nothing but a few sore fingers from frantic button-bashing. Then there’s Rytmos, an upcoming game from Floppy Club, that makes me look like an idiot by going completely against the grain by offering a music-orientated title with one of the sonic arts’ key ingredients - the abstract component of ‘feel’ - and in doing so, offers a planetary record collection with the best of our own rock’s colourful compositions.

I should start this preview by saying that I’m something of a musicologist - yes, that’s a proper term, I should know, I paid for the degree - and so I’m well aware that I sit comfortably within the target demographic for Rytmos. But it also gives me a little more scope to properly assess this title's interpretation of concepts like world music - a term that covers a massive amount of exciting genres like an ugly big blue tarpaulin - and I can say from the off that the approach to musical cultures in this game is as comprehensive as you’ll find outside of tedious academics and stale NPR documentaries.

With that out of the way, let’s get into the core gameplay ideas that ground Rytmos - or rather, those that lift it into orbit. You begin each level looking at a six-sided planet based on a specific musical style, with those available in the demo being Mbira music from Zimbabwe, German electronic, and Ethiopian jazz. Your task is to finish the six puzzles across each face of the planet, with every complete path adding another layer to the sonic tapestry unfolding before your very ears. Once the puzzle is complete, you can jam along with the beat you created using the planet’s related instrument, and send that mother into space while adding a snazzy record to your collection.

What are the first few things you'll notice when trying out a new blush?

First, the texture and how pigmented it may be, which then informs how I will apply it! Next would be whether it was easy to apply or not.

Perched on the idyllic banks of the Dubai Creek, surrounded by the iconic sites of the city, Park Hyatt Dubai has introduced a new reason for the city’s dining crowd to visit, with the launch of Asado Nights, a brand-new culinary offering with a rich cultural tradition, available weekly from Thursday to Sunday.

Curated by Argentinian-born Chef Rodrigo Llanes, the new Asado Nights are more than just a social barbecue event – they are a celebration of South American culture, tradition, and togetherness. With Asado Nights, Chef Rodrigo presents an evening where friends and family can gather around the table to enjoy delicious meat grilled in its purest form, cantered around community and camaraderie.

Explaining the tradition of authentic Argentinian Asado, Chef Rodrigo said: “For us, Asado is a legacy. It’s something we have been learning about since we were children. Our parents would take our hands and bring us close to the fire, while teaching us about the different cuts of meat and the different types of wood to use for each, whether it’s fish, cow, or lamb. For us, the Asado is that – the legacy, the history of our roots, who we are and all that we can give.”

“For me, as a chef, the best way to show love to my friends and family is by being next to the fire and cooking. At the Park Hyatt Asado Nights, we are offering an opportunity for our guests to join us around the table and enjoy a meal, while getting to know the history, country, and all the people who make the Asado what it is,” added Llanes.

On the night, diners will be able to choose from a carefully curated four-course set menu comprising a selection of starters, empanadas, desserts, and of course, the highlight of the evening – traditional Argentine grilled meats perfectly prepared over open fire, including ribs, steaks and the best cuts of beef, such as picanha and more. Guests can select their preferred meat cut tableside from Chef Rodrigo’s special meat carving trolley.

In addition to a variety of barbecued meat, guests can also expect an array of authentic South American dishes, such as grilled Provolone cheese with tomato confit and burnt black figs, Chef Rodrigo’s signature handmade empanadas with Angus flank steak, roasted chicken, chimichurri and vegetables, as well as starters of Pears Asadas, Esparragos Asados and Heirloom Tomates Asados, all beautifully prepared over the grill.

For a sweet finish, Chef Rodrigo will be serving up an Orange and Pineapple Asada with Mascarpone cheese, Dulce De Leche cones, and Alfajores, traditional Argentinian cookies filled with Dulce De Leche and Chocolate.

Complementing the extensive food offering is a specially curated drinks menu of Argentinian grapes as well as range of signature hand-crafted cocktails, which guests can select from the drinks trolley complete with a selection of garnishes to choose from.

Head over to Park Hyatt Dubai and join Chef Rodrigo in a unique culinary experience this winter, combining the traditional Argentinian Asado with a stylish Dubai flair. Guests can book by calling Brasserie du Park on 04 602 1814 or visiting the website: https://dubaicreekresort.com/asado-nights/

Fans Defend Sasha Obama For Using Fierce $275 Telfar Bag To Carry Her School Books On USC Campus

Sasha Obama has always had an incredibly fabulous style. However, last week, the youngest Obama daughter recently ruffled some feathers by sporting a $275 Telfar bag while walking on the University of Southern California campus.

According to AceShowBiz, Sasha also rocked a casual black and white, boho chic, ruffle-trim mini dress, tan boots with black socks, and stacked necklaces, but her large-sized embellished Telfar bag in the oxblood colorway was the center of attention.

SashaPhoto credit: hawtcelebs

Sasha’s choice of a college book-carrying bag grabbed headlines, with a naysayer criticizing her for spending $275 on the designer bag.

“She can probably get tuition scholarship with the legiune case and buy house, no,” one of the critics said.

The outrage surrounding Sasha carrying the “not for you, for everyone” bag to carry her college book is confusing specifically because this type of Telfar bag comes with a compartment just meant for laptops and is large enough to fit the heaviest textbooks.

And many social media users agree. Many came to her defense, as one user could relate to the former First Daughter.

“How else are you supposed to carry textbooks? I carried mine in Gucci.”

Another fan hit back at the naysayers, “It her money. Let her spend.”

A third user similarly discouraged the internet trolls by posting, “Please leave her a long let her live her life, it her [money].”

Another wrote, “Mind your own business. Stop counting other folks coins.”

I also use my Telfar for my books and laptop, make up, snacks, pepper spray, and half of my house. Telfar bags are meant to CARRY. They better leave Sasha Obama alone. pic.twitter.com/Jo00x3eLC9

and

The Sasha Obama bag thing is a dash of racism because other people in politics splurge way more. She has a black owned bag brand that uses vegan leather.

Dont get me started on what they did for Chelsea Clinton to go to Stanford.

Exactly!!!!! Paris Hilton carried a dog around in designer purses and no one said a damn thing!!!!

Jealousy is such a childish and empty emotion. There is no shame in being poor. Unless you spend your days being jealous of those you assume are happy because of wealth.

— Cordeliah (@cordeliah_gf) October 25, 2022

and

She looks great! For goodness-sake, some well known peeps carry $20,000 Hermes bags so c’mon, this is nothing! She’s a gorgeous girl carrying her best bag on her 1st day of college – let her!

— Good at Heart (@peni_poo) October 25, 2022

and

So freaking what – St Louis had a school shooting yesterday – be outraged at that NOT a bag, which by the way you are not even correct at pricing in your outrage. That is a $275 bag. Get mad at things that matter, not what bag someone carries!!

— KayLynn (@KayLynn13) October 25, 2022

and

So what? Why is it a concern of how she carries her textbooks? Real issues Ukraine, School shootings, inflation etc.

— Purplegemstone3 (@Purplegemstone3) October 26, 2022

and

So the problem is she is carrying books and studying? Shame on her! Nice bag though. LOL!

— Driven1776 (@driven1776) October 25, 2022

and

Hell, I spot women in my hometown using a $3,200 designer bag to carry their foodstamp card. ??‍♀️

— MJay48 (@DJMon_84) October 26, 2022

Her fierce fashion sense aside, Sasha is believed to be dating actor Clifton Powell’s son, Clifton Powell Jr. The duo’s relationship was exposed earlier this year after pictures surfaced of their outing together. In the images, the former First Daughter flashed a smile as she walked side-by-side with Clifton.

Sources say Sasha got together with Clifton after moving to LA in August last year. She dropped her studies at the University of Michigan and transferred to USC.

Asus ROG Rapture GT-AX6000 EVA Edition Review
asus-rog-rapture-gt-ax6000-eva-edition-review 769921

I have to admit, I am a fan of the Asus ROG Rapture GT-AX6000 EVA Edition. The project that saw Asus ROG do a range of gaming peripherals with the iconic Evangelion 01 colour scheme is one of the more strange collaborations I have seen. With motherboards, graphics cards, monitors, and PC accessories all in the range, fans of the anime can finally have a new way to indulge in their fandom. Even with the ridiculous nature of the range, Asus ROG Rapture GT-AX6000 EVA Edition is a solid router that delivers in the ways it needs too, and looks good doing so.

The Asus ROG Rapture GT-AX6000 Evo Edition is a horizontal wireless router with four adjustable antennas, four 1GBs ports, dual 2.5G Ethernet ports, with 1 USB 3.2 Gen and 1 USB 2.0 ports along the back of the unit. It has vibrant green LED lights adorning the antennas and the ROG eye will also glow based on the router status. Much like all the ROG range of routers, it has an imposing feel but will look great next to a gaming PC or other hardware.

Asus ROG Rapture GT AX6000 EVA Edition Review

What makes this model special is the Evangelion colour scheme, which is interesting and potentially exciting if you are a fan of the anime. Honestly, I don’t know why you would be looking to get the Asus ROG Rapture GT-AX6000 EVA Edition over the standard, unless you were a fan. From the look on the surface to the router’s menus, this is a device made to appeal to a very select fandom. I personally enjoy what ASUS has done with the GT-AX6000, it feels unique and has enough Eva flair to instantly recognize, especially with the Evangelion Test Type 01Test Type 01 words on the top.

Beyond the Evangelion style, the ROG Rapture GT-AX6000 is a well speced router that has all the ports you would hope for from a gaming device in 2022. The 2.5 Gigabit LAN and WAN ports are a great thing to see, especially as more devices are pushing well past 1GBs. The placement of all the ports on the back worked well, making sure you can have everything hooked up and hidden away, never taking away from the look of the ROG Rapture GT-AX6000, Evengelion inspired or otherwise.

Under the hood, the ROG Rapture GT-AX6000 is well-positioned to manage a range of networking tasks, including comeptative gaming. It has a powerful 2GHz dual-core processor, 1GB of RAM and 256MB of Flash memory. There are physical buttons on the back for power, Wi‑Fi password, and Reset. An LED control panel is located at the top right corner of the device. It runs on the ASUSWrt operating system which is found across the entire Asus router line up, with Eva edition featuring a theme inspired by the anime.

Asus ROG Rapture GT AX6000 EVA Edition Review

The ROG Rapture GT-AX6000 features an impressive range of wireless specs that should meet most peoples needs. The router is a dual-band 802.11ax router with a single 2.4 GHz band that Supports up to 1148Mbps and a single 5 GHz frequency that supports up to 4804 Mbps. The ROG Rapture GT-AX6000 Eva Edition should meet most gamers needs, but it was disappointing seeing it limited to dual-band, especially when the competition are pushing tri or even quad-band offerings that do make this one feel lacking in comparison.

With its 802.11ac Wave 2 MU-MIMO technology, the ASUS RT-AC68U AC1900 Dual Band Gigabit Router offers up to 3x faster speeds than previous models. It also features beamforming for better coverage and reception, includes adaptive QoS to prioritize traffic. and can be configured as a part of an Airtime Mesh Wi-Fi system. All in all, Asus included most of what you could want from a router at this range, even bringing Wi-Fi 6 to the table, something I am happy to see, especially with more devices coming out that support the new standard.

The unboxing and setup of the Asus ROG Rapture GT-AX6000 EVA Edition was painless and intuitive. Once you have everything installed, with the modem and devices plugged into their respective ports, you simply need to open the setup page and go through the steps. The interface will walk you through each step of the process, with it giving prompts for the network names, your passwords, and even will update things to keep everything running smoothly. From the unboxing to running took a total of 10 minutes, although more time can be spent if you want to fine tune some of the more advanced settings.

Asus ROG Rapture GT AX6000 EVA Edition Review

Once everything is installed, you have a range of options that can be explored, including network traffic monitoring and game prioritization. If your like me and you want the best experience possible while online, this is where you will want to dive into, with Asus including a range of options to get the best experience possible. For most users, the Game Boost for game packet prioritisation is what would most often need to be turned on. Even with today’s Wi-Fi speeds, I still recommend a dedicated LAN connection for gaming, but the game boost is a great way to push past network congestion to get the best speeds possible.

“The Asus ROG Rapture GT-AX6000 EVA Edition is one of the fastest and most robust Wi-Fi 6 gaming routers we have tested this year.”

The Asus ROG Rapture GT-AX6000 EVA Edition also has a range of security features and parental controls that can further customize your network to meet your needs. Not all these settings will be used by everyone, or need to for that matter, but ASUS have laid everything out in a way that is easy to understand, while still giving enough customization for the power users to sink their teeth into.

Asus ROG Rapture GT AX6000 EVA Edition ReviewAsus ROG Rapture GT AX6000 EVA Edition Review

In our network tests the LAN performance was very impressive, it held its own against some more expensive offerings from Linksys, Netgear and TP-Link, delivering data quickly even with a congested network. On the wireless side, the router, we saw speeds of 940Mbps on the 5Ghz band, delivering great speeds anywhere in the office testing environment. When we went past the ideal range, speeds did decrease, dropping to around 800Mbps, although still good for wireless at the extent of the routers’ coverage area.

Mobile gamers are in for a treat with the consistent speeds and range the ROG Rapture GT-AX6000 is a beast when it comes to online gaming. I tried Fortnight on the ROG Phone 6, and I never saw any slowdown due to network performance. Jumping to a laptop, the same consistent speeds were seen across all games we run through our tests. The CPU at the core of the router keeps things running smoothly, even when the network is congested.

Asus ROG Rapture GT AX6000 EVA Edition Review

All in all, the Asus ROG Rapture GT-AX6000 EVA Edition is one of the fastest and most robust Wi-Fi 6 gaming routers we have tested this year. There is a reason ASUS are some of the higher end when it comes to gaming routers. The software works well, the router delivers enough signal to blanket most houses and the additional features simply add to an overall great package. For fan of Evangelion who love to game online, I can’t think of a better combination then with the Asus ROG Rapture GT-AX6000 EVA Edition, it just works and looks good doing so.

The Inn Collection Group acquires St Kilda Hotel in Llandudno

The Inn Collection Group has acquired the historic property of the St Kilda Hotel in Llandudno, Wales, as its third site in its “growing” pubs with rooms estate in the region.

The news of the Newcastle-based operator acquiring the 60-room property comes as its total number of venues have reached a total of 33 as the group continues its expansion beyond the north of England.

It is reported that the St Kilda, which dates back to 1854, joins the Swallow Falls Hotel in Betws-y-Coed and The Bull in Beaumaris as properties owned by the group in North Wales.

Having been under family ownership for the past 21 years, St Kilda is located on the central promenade and has coastal views lying between the Great Orme and Little Orme headlands overlooking the Llandudno Bay.

In addition, the hotel has previously been named ‘Best Pub Employer’ for two consecutive years in the national Publican Awards and has a strong reputation for its people commitment and career development opportunities, alongside “award-winning” customer service and quality amenities.

Sean Donkin, managing director of The Inn Collection Group, said: “We are absolutely delighted to be bringing The St Kilda Hotel into our pubs with rooms family and continue our expansion into Wales.

“What sets The Inn Collection Group aside is the exceptional locations of our trading environments and their beautiful outdoor localities and The St Kilda is a perfect match. It’s of the correct size to enhance our presence in the area and we’re thrilled to be having it join our existing coastal properties that delight guests in the North East, North Yorkshire and the Lake District.”

He added: “We are passionate about investing in unique sites like the St Kilda and making them special places to eat, drink, sleep and explore from and we’re looking forward to it being part of our new chapter as part of the community fabric here in North Wales.”
